CMSA'S 21ST ANNUAL CONFERENCE & EXPO

Extended Conference Learning Opportunities

CMSA's Extended ConferenceAs the leading membership association dedicated to the support and professional development of all case managers, CMSA’s Annual Conference & Expo has always been the premiere educational event in the case management industry. However, in today’s world, we understand not everyone can join us for CMSA’s Annual Conference and Expo. Likewise, not everyone that attended this week-long event can visit every intriguing session offered.

We are pleased to offer you the CMSA Extended Learning Conference.

If you attended the conference, but missed some of the sessions, or you weren’t able to attend the conference this year, you can “attend” now – any time that is convenient for you.

The sessions are offered in packages to meet your needs. The “Full Conference” package contains all 47 sessions presented at the conference. Or you can choose from smaller packages that contain 5, 15, or 25 sessions. Each package contains “tickets” that can be used for sessions, so you get the flexibility to choose which sessions you want. One ticket is good for one session.

How could it be easier to keep current with the hot topics and best practices in Case Management?

  • CERTIFICATION — Earn up to 84.0 Nursing and 70.5 CCM Continuing Education hours.
  • KNOWLEDGE — Get up-to-date best practices and the hottest case management-related topics.
  • VALUE — Receive a great low price for the content and continuing education.
  • CONVENIENCE — Access the sessions from your computer, so you can learn at your own pace at times most convenient for you.

But it won't last long!  Registration will end December 15th, 2011, and all courses must be completed by December 31st, 2011, regardless of registration date. So, signup early and choose the package that fit your needs!

Strengthening the Family Caregiver Advocacy Role in Case Management

The world of health care is changing; and also the need for case managers to enhance their practice for greater advocacy and support of family caregivers. In the first half of this main session, Suzanne Mintz discusses how patients with incurable chronic conditions and their family caregivers need someone “on the inside” who knows the rules, regulations, protocol and resource navigation of hospitals and health care. For too long, family caregivers have been the sole advocates for their loved one. The time is now for case managers to embrace and build the support and resources with patients and families in advocacy, coordination, and transition of the health care system.

Recommitting the Caring Heart of the Case Manager for Better Patient Care and Advocacy

Remember the last time you or a loved one was the patient? Did you get the sense that everyone was busy doing their jobs, but forgetting the one thing that mattered most–how the patient was feeling? Within every health care professional, there is a caring heart that seems to have gotten lost amidst our massive, complex health care system. Our nation’s health care system is undergoing change like never before. CMSA’s 2010 “Lifetime Achievement Award Winner,” Catherine Mullahy, will raise your awareness and empower case managers to recognize opportunities that exist for their vital new role in patient advocacy.

Opportunity and Risk: How eHealth Changes the Game for Case Management Professionals and their Patients

Broadband access to the web, on-line medical records, mobile applications, connected devices, and tele-presence in the home are laying the foundation for a new kind of health delivery system—a system that puts consumers at the center with far greater control than they typically have today. What are the implications, risks and opportunities for case managers and case management organizations?

In this session, Bill Crounse, MD, Microsoft’s Senior Director of Worldwide Health, surveys the landscape and points to the knowledge, resources, and tools you’ll need to navigate your way across choppy seas.
