Mary Beth Newman, MSN, RN, A-CCC, CMAC, CCP, as Program Manager for Care Management at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, is responsible for maintaining a consistent "best practice" care management program for the company’s 5-state Central Region. Ms. Newman’s experience includes the development, implementation, and evaluation of targeted care management programs for Anthem’s managed care population. Her unique skill set includes experience in strategic planning, quality improvement processes, project management, program development, resource management, outcomes evaluation, and successful accreditation in the managed care environment, as well as the long-term care service industry environment. With extensive training, experience, and credentials in case management, Ms. Newman is uniquely qualified to lead strategic and tactical planning related to case management and quality improvement activities in the managed care environment.
Ms. Newman has been instrumental in the development and implementation of an advanced, member-centric, collaborative model of care management at Anthem. She has been the lead project manager for two successful case management accreditations, medical management strategy, related quality improvement initiatives, and corporate care management integration efforts. She has developed a comprehensive modular case management orientation and training program for Anthem, as well as an advanced level training program focused on behavior change theory and techniques for case managers. Ms. Newman has presented to numerous national audiences from the managed care, case management, disease management, and long-term care industries. Her presentations have included topics such as successful post-merger integration of care management, promoting patient adherence, health behavior change principles, integration of outcome evaluation efforts, the value of proactive case management, and cultural competency in case management.
Ms. Newman holds a Master’s Degree in Gerontological Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and is nationally board-certified in advanced continuity of care and case management administration. Disclosure: None
