Alison, Lani M., RN, BSN, is currently the Vice President of Quality lmprovement at Healthfirst Management Services in New York City. Healthfirst is New York State's largest Medicaid insurer, the fastest growing Medicare insurer and the nation's largest managed care company owned by hospitals. Mrs. Alison is responsible for development, implementation, and integration of the health plan's quality program, ensuring safe and high-quality services to its membership on a daily basis. She manages a staff of over one hundred professionals including four Directors, Senior Managers, Physicians, Nurses, Clinical Social Workers, and other Allied Health Professionals.
A frequent presenter, speaker, and consultant on quality issues to industry, academia, and policy organizations, Mrs. Alison has applied her management experience in acute care facilities and managed care settings to complex consulting projects in quality management. She has been recognized both nationally and internationally by renowned clinical organizations. She was awarded the Best New Investigator Poster Presentation for her work in evaluating the compliance of patients with antidepressants by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research in Barcelona, Spain in 2003.
She has published articles in major clinical magazines and was recently honored by her alma mater, the San Pedro College in the Philippines in their search for Most Outstanding Alumni. She was awarded the Alumni Achiever Award in the Practice of the Health Profession. She was also the lead person in the Diabetes project submitted to and published by the Best Clinical and Administrative Practices consortium of health plans. This project was to improve diversities in the care of diabetes in minority groups. The consortium is supported by grants from the Robert Wood Foundation and the Commonwealth Fund.
Mrs. Alison is also a very active community leader lending her support to the activities of the Performing Arts Philippines, Inc; the lloilo Society of America Foundation, and the other organizations under the Federation of Filipino-American Organizations. In September 2006, Lani was awarded the Dangal ng Lahi award for healthcare.
