Barbara L. Kornblau, JD, OTR/L, FAOTA, DAAPM, ABDA, CDMS, CCM, is a Past President of the American Occupational Therapy Association and a Professor of Occupational Therapy and Public Health at Nova Southeastern University, where she has taught, among other things, public health law, case management, and health policy. She received her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. In her private practice, she provides consulting and case management services to business and industry, attorneys and others for purposes of complying with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and promoting access and quality of life. A practicing attorney, she specializes in disability discrimination litigation.
She is the first occupational therapist case manager selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow and the first selected as an American Political Science Association Fellow. She recently completed her year-long fellowship in Washington, DC, during which she worked for a United States Senator. She is holds certifications and/or licenses in case management, disability management, pain management, disability analysis, occupational therapy, law and rehabilitation. She has served as a Commissioner on the Commission for Case Manager Certification and has been active in many professional and civic organizations. She has lectured nationally and internationally about health, health policy, ethical and legal issues, case management, and interventions to promote participation and quality of life. She has published over 100 books, book chapter, peer-reviewed papers, and other publications in occupational therapy, law, health policy, and case management and is the recipient of several endowed lectureships. She is co-author of the book, “Ethics in Rehabilitation: A clinical approach.”
