Polly Howard, RN, MSN, CCM, is Director of Care Management at Johns Hopkins Healthcare, an organization that provides managed care infrastructure, support, and care management throughout the State of MD. Johns Hopkins Healthcare also provides care for Medicaid recipients, military dependents, and retired military through a Department of Defense contract.
Ms. Howard has been instrumental in developing and advancing case and disease management programs for Johns Hopkins Healthcare. She currently manages inpatient utilization management including subacute care, rehabilitative care, acute inpatient, and mental health. In addition, she manages substance abuse treatment, and case and disease management programs. Prior to serving as Director, she was a Program Manager responsible for Telemedicine, asthma, and other disease management programs.
She received her BSN from University of Maryland and a MSN from the University of Delaware. She is a certified case manager. Her work experience is extensive within hospitals with her clinical background in trauma and critical care. Ms. Howard's experience in managed care organizations consists of commercial, Medicare, and Medicare businesses. She successfully functioned in a variety of roles from case manager, to utilization review nurse, administrator, and hospitalist coordinator.
Ms. Howard has presented poster presentations at CMSA, and has also lectured at national conferences on topics such as case management and utilization review.
