Teresa Emmons, RN, BSN, CCM, CMCN, has been a Registered Nurse for over 17 years. She graduated from Miami University in 1992 with an Associates Degree in Nursing, and started her career as a staff nurse on a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Arthur James Cancer Center in Columbus, OH. During those years as a staff nurse, she earned her BSN; and started working as an oncology nurse, step-down nurse, as well as a home healthcare case manager. One of her accomplishments was developing teaching tools to assist patients in the home to self- administer their infusions.
In 2000, Teresa's career took another path after marriage, and she started working for Anthem Insurance as a Utilization Nurse. She completed her certification in Managed Care (CMCN) in 2003, and accepted a position as a Transplant Case Manager. She then continued until she received her certification in Case Management (CCM) in 2005.
As a member of the Southern Ohio Valley Chapter Case Management Society of America, as well as, Case Management Society of America, she also currently serves on the Membership Committee for the Southern Ohio Valley Chapter Case Management Society of America. She is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as of 2007; and has been a member of the National Association of Bariatric Nursing since 2006. During the past year, Teresa has assisted in the development of the National Bariatric Surgery Case Management Program for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
