Durham, Carol A., RN, CCM, MHP, CCP, is a founding member of the Southern Ohio Chapter of the CMSA and current Treasurer of the Chapter.
As a Case Management education specialist for Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Carol is responsible for the creation, development, implementation and evaluation of Case Management Orientation, and continuing education opportunities for Care Management nurses. Her responsibilities also include the Ongoing QI process of auditing the Case Managers in the Central Region for Anthem. In her current role, she provides support and guidance to assist case managers in successfully coaching and assisting members to achieve their personal goals and to identify their intrinsic motivation to be able to make positive health changes in their lives.
Carol’s experience at Anthem includes 10 years experience as Anthem’s Midwest Staff Development coordinator. Carol has worked five years as Transplant Case Manager Job requirements included predetermination, precertification, and case management for all solid organ and bone marrow transplant for one year following the transplant episode. Carol achieved Case Manager Certification: CCM in 2001 and Certification HIAA Managed Health Professional: MHP 2002
Carol’s experience includes acting as the “clinical” liaison during the development, implementation of four different medical management systems for Anthem/WellPoint.
Prior to coming to Anthem, Carol’s experience included Operating room nursing where she achieved the “Perioperative Nursing Certification” CNOR in 1988
Carol’s Professional affiliations include; National Association of Nurses, AORN Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, Case management Society of America, CMSA Southern Ohio Valley Chapter Treasurer, Red Cross volunteer, member of the Ohio Citizen Corps as well as an active community volunteer.
