Janet Sue Coulter, RN, MSN, CCM, has been an RN for over 33 years. She graduated from a diploma school of nursing, and started her career as a staff nurse on a cardiac step-down unit. Janet earned her BSN and taught nursing for 15 years; and a MSN, as well as a Master of Science in Adult Education. Her husband’s career path necessitated a move, and their family relocated to Cincinnati, OH. She continued to teach nursing for three more years then decided to change her focus.
Janet worked as an occupational nurse for a large company in Cincinnati; and then as a case manager for an Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation Managed Care Organization. While there, she fell in love with case management and received her CCM. Next, she was a Care Counselor in an educational program which led to her present position as Senior Oversight Consultant for a large insurance company.
She has published several articles in nursing journals, and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and CMSA. Janet was on the Founding Committee of a local CMSA chapter, and has been very active in the local chapter. Additionally, she has just recently been elected as Vice President of the Southern Ohio Valley Chapter of CMSA. She serves on the Nominating Committee, the Newsletter Committee, the Case Manager Leadership Award, and Case Manager of the Year/Case Manager Excellence in Service Award Committee, as well as Chairperson of the Web Site Development Committee and Chairperson of the CCM Prep Review Course sponsored by SOV CMSA and CCMI. Janet was a co-presenter with Cris Walter at the 2007 CMSA Annual Chapter Leadership Workshop at the CMSA Conference 2007 (“Strengthening Educational Programming and Dealing with the CE Process”).
