Boult, Chad, MD, MPH, MBA, a geriatrician by training, Dr. Boult has extensive experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of new models of healthcare for older populations. His current research includes Guided Care, a new model of primary care for older people with multiple chronic conditions. Guided Care is designed to improve the quality and outcomes of complex healthcare by improving the delivery system’s design, decision support, access to clinical information, support for self-management, and facilitating improved access to community resources.
He has published projections of the number of disabled older Americans in the 21st century, and has provided consultation to dozens of healthcare organizations. He created the first validated instrument for identifying high-risk older persons (the Pra), and co-edited a book entitled: “New Ways to Care for Older People: Building Systems Based on Evidence; Springer Publishing Company, 1999. From 2000-2005, he edited the “Models and Systems of Geriatric Care” Section of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. At Johns Hopkins University, he directs the Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care in the School of Public Health; and he precepts Fellows of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology in the Medical School’s Department of Medicine.
