Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common disabling neurological disorder to attack young adults of European descent in developed nations. Besides the disabling and social impact of MS, this complex disease accounts for health-related costs estimated to be up to $10 billion per year in the U.S.
Getting patients on the right therapy, keeping them adherent, and managing daily symptoms and side effects are a primary focus of case managers. Through an innovative video theater and interactive discussion, attendees will learn how apply the CMAG guidelines to improve adherence for patients with MS.
Objectives:
- Improve interventions by the health care team for the patient with relapse-remitting multiple sclerosis, including disease modification, treatment of exacerbations, and symptom management.
- Assimilate short-and long-term benefits of disease modifying therapy in ongoing management of patients with multiple sclerosis.
- Assess the pharmacoeconomic impact of disease modifying therapies and the impact of reimbursement and co-pay issues on patient management.
- Apply Case Management Adherence Guidelines to improve medication adherence among patients with multiple sclerosis.
