Are you a workers’ compensation case manager, a disability manager, a disease manager, a group healthcare manager, an employer, a risk manager, an insurance representative, a wellness professional, or a work injury prevention educator? Any of these “titled individuals,” and many more, will benefit from this program. However, right up front, these stand alone silos regarding employee/employer absence management will be broken down in order to discuss the big picture. This program will meet the basic-to- advanced needs of the absence management team. The basics of workers’ compensation case management and the overview of the issues employers face will be outlined. This evolution toward advanced absence management will be defined and analyzed.
Since the productivity of the injured or ill employee is no longer only the employer’s issue, the focus of prevention, wellness, injury management, health/illness management, return to work, and teaming with continuum providers will give the integrated professional tools to change gears and show value along the way. What interventions impact the bigger picture of indemnity dollars? How can case managers impact that? Is resource management important? How can case managers or other absence managers drive options for employers? What results from collaboration, closure, and quality management? What barriers to return to work are at hand regardless of the reason for absence? How can value be defined across the continuum of hiring, employee health improvement, safety, injury prevention, injury management, disability management, and to returning the employee to full time productivity?
This will be an interactive program with the attendee’s issues and expectations discussed. The attendee will take away tools and up-to-date resources to apply to their real life practice while showing value. In addition, with a diverse audience of thought leaders, interactive learning with future resource identification will allow for ongoing discovery beyond the session.
Objectives:
- Discuss workers’ comp and employer market trends in regards to case management.
- Identify the full continuum of care identified by employers and the opportunities for case managers to work with employers to lower total indemnity costs through case management interventions.
- Discuss collaborative efforts, partnering, and other tools to encourage injured worker’s return to work.
