2003-2004 CMSA President Takes Office


Little Rock, AR (June 27, 2003) — Anne Llewellyn, RNC, BHSA, CCM, CRRN, CEAC, took office as the 13th President of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) at its annual conference, held June 24-28, 2003, in San Antonio. Her term will extend to the next annual conference, June 15-19, 2004, in Nashville, Tenn. Llewellyn succeeds the 2002-2003 President, Karen Chambers, RN, CCM, CDMS.

Llewellyn is co-founder of Professional Resources In Management Education (P.R.I.M.E.), Inc., in 1994 to offer high-quality healthcare education for healthcare professionals who wish to maintain and improve clinical competency. She began her career in healthcare as a critical care nurse in 1978 and ten years later entered the practice of case management as a catastrophic case manager for Intracorp. In 1993, she became an independent case manager and diversified into the field ofworkers’ comp/disability management and long-term care.

In February 2001, she co-authored a book with her business partner, published by the ANCC, and titled Case Management Resource and Reference Manual: The Essence of Case Management. Anne is a frequent writer on a variety of topics, including various aspects of the case management process. As an international and national speaker, she has traveled to various venues to discuss the practice and challenges of case management.

Llewellyn’s awards include the 1993 Intracorp Gold Medal Award, and among her professional memberships are CMSA, Florida State & Broward County Chapters; the Emergency Nursing Society; the American Nurses Association; and the National Association of Women Business Owners. She served as CMSA Vice President from1996-1997 and from 2000-2001 and as President-Elect from 2002-2003; as CMSA President-South Florida Chapter from 1995-1997; as South Florida Case Management Network President from 1993-1995; as CMSA Nominations Committee Chair in 1995; as Ombudsman representing Broward County: Focused on Managed Medicare; on the URAC Accreditation Committee from 2001-2002; and as CMSA Representative, Center for Practical Health Reform from 2001-Present.
