About Connie Sunderhaus, RN-BC, CCM
Vice President of CXJ Corporation and managing consultant of the Health Care Group. The company offers educational programs, product enhancement, and management consulting in the case management arena. Connie’s past clinical experience includes case management, patient education, and home healthcare. Clients include medical management companies, clinical software organizations, pharmaceutical companies and educational programs.
Connie Sunderhaus is the author of multiple articles published in case management and other national healthcare journals. The role of the case manager is the focus of her educational programs with in-depth reviews on each topic as what is most important to the case manager and how case managers can utilize information in caring for their patients. She is a contributing writer for a national case management education company and serves on several national speakers’ bureaus. Currently she is a regular author for Case in Point®, writing the patient primer page.
Primary areas of clinical concentration are focused on chronic conditions, developing both educational programs and program content. Content is developed to provide an overview of the condition, specific adherence issues, and patient education. Topic examples include rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular (hypertension, coronary artery disease, women’s cardiac health, congestive heart failure), osteoporosis, wound management, and behavioral health (depression and anxiety), HIV/AIDS and health literacy.
In her role in business development for Careguide® Systems, she successfully implemented patient self-care management programs at hospitals in multiple geographic regions and won grants for hospitals to provide products for women with breast cancer.
Connie is the 2009-2010 Treasurer of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), an appointed member of the Public Policy Committee, a past officer, and represented the organization with the Joint Commission. Connie is a past president of the Chicago Chapter of CMSA, and an active member of various community organizations.
