Case managers are licensed healthcare professionals providing patient assessment, treatment planning, healthcare facilitation and patient advocacy according to the industry's published Standards of Practice. The case management practitioner has a unique knowledge and ability to work with a variety of patient populations and they deliver services through utilization management, nursing case management, disease management, pharmacy therapy management, health coaching and medical resource coordination. They play a critical role in healthcare ensuring patient satisfaction, controlling rising costs and reducing risk.
The Case Management Society of America (CMSA) is an international 501(c)(6), multi-disciplinary, professional membership organization dedicated to the support and advancement of the case management profession. Founded in 1990, CMSA's partnership today is quickly approaching 10,000. Since its inception, CMSA has been at the forefront of setting professional standards for the industry, developing national and local leaders recognized for their professional excellence and providing opportunities for case managers to learn from industry-leading product and service companies. CMSA's Annual Conference is the only venue where case managers and national healthcare leaders meet to learn and contribute their collective experiences toward advancing case management.
