Recipients of the Award of Service Excellence (AOSE)
Recent Award Recipient
Carol A. Gleason, MM, RN, CRRN, CCM, LRC, BCPC, of Marblehead, MA, was named recipient of CMSA's 2011 Award of Service Excellence (AOSE).
Known as a motivator and a “doer,” Carol Gleason brings energy, humor, and a strong work ethic to her work and demonstrates enthusiasm and passion in everything she does, especially in the political arena, say her colleagues. A graduate of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing and Cambridge College with a Masters in Management, she is an experienced case manager, who has enjoyed a nursing career practicing in multiple settings, including sub-acute, neurological/neuro-behavioral, worker’s compensation, and hospital rehabilitation. Her implementation of case management grand rounds has resulted in improved outcomes for patients in several of the facilities in which she has worked. Recognized as a strong patient advocate, she is admired by coworkers for her ability to stay on top of even the smallest details about her patients and for her ability to remain abreast of changes in the healthcare industry, managed care, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
Nationally, she has been active with the CMSA Board as a Director from 2004 to 2007 and as Chairman of the CMSA Public Policy Committee from 2009 to 2010. She is current Vice Chairman of that committee, and has dedicated a great deal of time to supporting the PPC’s efforts to grow its grass roots liaison program and to increase the number of chapters with Public Policy Committees. Her work around the CMSA Model Act and Multi-State Licensure has contributed to the success of both campaigns. She lobbies extensively with legislators and regulators both locally and nationally, and has visited the White House to educate staff about case managers, case management and CMSA.
Extolled by her colleagues as being one who, “no matter where she is practicing or working, she is a positive role model to all and THE ULTIMATE MENTOR and PROPONENT for case managers across the country!”
