Breakthrough pain in cancer can pose a number of challenges to patient management and well-being. The World Health Organization reports that in 85%-97% of all cancer cases, pain can be controlled. Breakthrough cancer pain (BTP) is distinguished from chronic cancer pain by its intensity, intermittency and duration. Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) is one of several tools that may be required by the FDA to ensure that the benefits of a drug outweigh its risk.  Please join us as we discuss the process, the components and the role of the Case Manager to improve treatment and management options for patients with BTP.

Objectives:
  1. dentify the challenges and strategies to manage Cancer Breakthrough Pain.
  2. Explain the rationale for REMS in the opioid class,
  3. Apply care coordination through every transition of care
