Health care organizations look to comprehensive accreditation standards to ensure their case management programs coordinate care across the continuum of health care settings, and deliver more efficient and effective service to consumers.

URAC is the only accreditation organization offering standards that specifically address the rapidly evolving field of case management. The standards that comprise URAC’s case management accreditation program provide guidance on best practices and assurance that an organization’s case management services have been thoroughly reviewed and vetted.

While accreditation offers significant benefits for both consumers and health care organizations, noncompliance with case management accreditation standards can have damaging consequences. Organizations that are out of compliance with the URAC CM standards jeopardize their accreditation, which can lead to increased scrutiny and oversight by regulators and clients.

This session will address the importance of accreditation for case management programs, and review the most frequent areas of noncompliance for URAC’s CM standards.

Objectives:
  1. Describe the URAC case manager assessment standard consumer safety areas.
  2. Identify case management plan of care as a communication tool with providers and the consumer to promote consumer safety.
  3. Describe how URAC case management measures are a tool for evaluating outcomes of case management.
