Barbara A. DeGray, RN, MBA, CRRN


Barbara DeGray, RN, MBA, CRRN, is a registered nurse with over 30 years’ experience in the areas of clinical care, workers’ compensation, case management, and utilization review. Her current role with Managed Care Advisors (MCA) is Director of Case Management. In this role, Ms. DeGray is responsible for super­vising a team of nurse case managers in managing workers’ compensation cases of injured/ill workers in the federal sector. She also ensures adherence to FECA guidelines and provides client support.

Prior to joining MCA, Ms. DeGray was Medical Care Manager for CareSys/MCMC and a Nurse Case Manager at Zurich Insurance, where she was responsible for the independent management of assigned caseloads and client relations. Ms. DeGray has direct experience with remote work sites, including the supervision of home-based nurses located throughout the country. Ms. DeGray directly experienced the growth of state-regulated managed care while employed with Executive Risk Consultants, a Florida TPA; and at Vincam, a Professional Employment Organization. Ms. DeGray has applied her skills in disability management in positions held as Supervisor of Utilization Review, Director of Quality Management, and Director of Medical Management. Her various positions have provided opportunities to assist clients with regulatory compliance of Medicare, FECA, FELA, and state Workers’ Compensation.

As a presenter, Ms. DeGray has shared her experiences and knowledge at regional and national conferences dedicated to nursing, patient education, and workers’ compensation management.

Ms. DeGray holds an undergraduate degree in Nursing; a BSN, from Georgetown University; and a Masters of Business Administration degree (MBA), in Health Administration from the University of Miami. In addition, she is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN); and holds a Certificate in Health Care Administration, and a Certificate in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.
