Shawna Bianco, RN, MBA
|
Shawna Bianco, RN, MBA, first entered the healthcare profession in 1992 as a Surgical Technologist. While in that position, she earned her AAS degree to become a Registered Nurse, and her BS degree in Healthcare Administration.
After eighteen years as an Operating Room Nurse, she decided to return to graduate school for a degree in business. She completed her EMBA in 2008, shortly after joining the staff in care management and training as a Clinical Documentation Specialist. Shawna further enhanced that training with a class in Medical Record Coding.
She now uses her clinical and business knowledge to improve clinical documentation so coders can assign appropriate codes for billing. She is an active participant in physician rounds, and has introduced the role of the Clinical Documentation Specialist to the Cardiothoracic Surgeons at their monthly service meeting. She also works closely with coders to resolve DRG mismatches.
